Noxolo Maqashalala was a south African actress. She rose to fame in 2003 for her portrayal of Viwe on the SABC 1 youth drama, Tsha Tsha, alongside Sisanda Henna, Siphiwe Mtshali, Brenda Ngxoli, Zolani Mahola, and Jet Novuka with Pumzile Mlungwana. In 2014 she took over the character of Pearl from Charmaine Mtinta on the SABC 2 sitcom, Gauteng Maboneng, she returned for the third season and final season. Noxolo Maqashalala had roles on The Kingdom - uKhakhayi, Easy Money, Binnelanders, Diamond City, Dream World, InterSEXions, Mzansi Love: Big City Love, Rhythm City, and Generations.

Film Career

Noxolo Maqashalala had a small role in the American film, Hotel Rwanda starring Don Cheadle and portrayed the character of Wendy in the 2009 South African comedy film, Bitterness.


Noxolo Maqashalala died in early March 2021. Her body was discovered on Friday 12 March 2021 at her her Honeydew, Johannesburg home. The news of her death was overshadowed by the death of the Zulu king, Isilo Samabandla Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu. However, on Saturday 13 March 2021, as the news of the death of acting juggernaut, Menzi Ngubane, broke - the story of her death gained traction. She was 44 years old.

According to Dispatch LIVE, the forensic pathologist revealed that Noxolo Maqashalala had been dead for almost a week. The exact day and course of her death remains unknown.
