YFM (1997 - to date) is a South African radio station based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. Founded in 1997 at the height of the Kwaito Revolution, YFM is responsible for launching radio careers of numerous prominent personalities including Oskido, DJ Sbu, DJ Fresh, DJ Khabzela, Phat Joe, Bad Boy T, Unathi Msengana, Rude Boy Paul, Phindi Gule, Dineo Ranaka and Mo Flava.
History
YFM first went on air in 1995 in the suburb of Bertrams in the city of Johannesburg and within one month it enjoyed a listenership of 660 000. In the mid 2000s, at the height of the station, the listenership stood at 1.2 million.
