Tina Jaxa (born Albertina Jaxa on 27 October 1970) is a South African actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Priscilla Mthembu on the SABC 1 soap opera Generations, Lorraine Dhlomo in the SABC 3 soap opera Isidingo and for taking over the portrayal of Eve Sisulu from Motshabi Tyelele on Madam & Eve.

She went on a prolonged hiatus, during that period she lived in the city of Cape Town for nine years. In 2015 she had her biggest role in recent years when she starred on the critically acclaimed e.tv original drama series Gold Diggers with Mxolisi Majozi, Clementine Mosimane, Menzi Ngubane, Keneilwe Matidze, Mpho Sibeko, Thabo Malema, Zimkhitha Nyoka, Fikile Mthwalo and legendary playwright Mbongeni Ngema.

Since her reemergence she has appeared in major television shows such as Shreds and Dreams, Isikizi, 90 Plein Street, Ashes to Ashes and Nkululeko as well as having a starring role in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City as Andiswa. In 2015 she starred in the South African feature film While You Weren't Looking with Camilla Waldman, Petronella Tshuma, Fezile Mpela, Sandi Schultz and Thishiwe Ziqubu.


Retirement from Acting

Tina Jaxa was quoted in March 2014 as saying, "I am hoping to win my last Safta this year, it will be very special because I have decided to retire from acting and move behind-the-scenes. I want to produce and direct films as well as assist in nurturing young talent"

Personal Life

Tina Jaxa was married to late famed Zimbabwean businessman and music promoter Prosper Mkwaiwa. The pair married in the year 2000 in a lavish ceremony held at Usambara Wedding Village, near Krugersdorp, which reportedly cost R300,000. In early 2015 Prosper Mkwaiwa died after a short illness, at which point it emerged that he was still legally married to Tina Jaxa.

Controversy with Tina Dlangwana

Just weeks after the death of Prosper Mkwaiwa, Tina Jaxa was embroiled in a controversy with Tina Dlangwana over who was the lawful wife. According to reports Prosper Mkwaiwa lobola for Tina Dlangwana three years earlier but separated amid accusations of infidelity. According to a Drum magazine article

Controversy with her eldest son (Leeroy Mkwaiwa)

According to the Daily Sun Tina Jaxa's eldest son, Leeroy Mkwaiwa, attempted to physically assault her following her refusal to give him money.

"The complainant Albertina Jaxa alleges that her son Leeroy Mkwaiwa pushed her around and hit her while he was swearing at her. The argument started when Leeroy demanded an amount of R400 and she refused to give him because he did not want to say what it was for. After he hit me, I then got a chance to run away. I don’t know what could have happened if I didn’t manage to escape," the Daily Sun quoted a statement made to the police.

Prosper Mkwaiwa Estate

As of early 2018 Tina Jaxa is reportedly at loggerheads with Pula Nala Mining and Energy consortium over Prosper Mkwaiwa's estate.
