Mandla Mofokeng better known to fans as Spikiri, is a South African music producer and artist. He is among the pioneer artists of the Kwaito music genre that is very popular in Southern Africa. Spikiri is also a member of the Kwaito group called Trompies. The group is made up four old school friends Mohoota, Mandla Spikiri, Donald Duck and Jakarumba and was formed in late 1995. He started his career as a dancer in 1985, under the tutelage of South African musician Chicco Twala. He later formed a disco group called MM De Luxe with friend Mdu Masilela in 1988. This duo recorded two successful albums in 1989 and 1990 and introduced what came to be known as township kwaito today.
