Palesa Madisakwane (born 06 September 1975) is a South African actress, television personality former news anchor for the now defunct ANN7. She portrayed the character of Palesa on Generations. Palesa Madisakwane played the role of Thandeka in the shortlived telenovela which also starred Patrick Shai, Nambitha Mpumlwana, Chumani Pan and Nyaniso Dzedze. She was thrust in the spotlight for her relationship with Nico Matlala. Palesa Madisakwane caused controversy when she rebuked Zola Dlamini for his refusal to be interviewed at the Joe Mafela memorial service and called him "irrelevant zola7".

Palesa Madisakwane's most high profile work to date is her portrayal of Palesa on Generations when that show was at its very peak. Over the years she has also acted on Ashes to Ashes, IsiBaya, Gaz'lam, Soul Buddyz, Mfolozi Street and the Baby Cele and Seputla Sebogodi led Zabalaza.

Palesa Madisakwane hosted the long running SABC 1 gospel music show, Gospel Gold and served as a news anchor on the now defunct Gupta Family owned ANN7.

Zola Controversy

Palesa Madisakwane took to Twitter to lash out at Bonginkosi Dlamini popularly known as Zola after he reportedly declined to be interviewed during the memorial service of Joe Mafela.

"tnks 2all artists who gave us interviews at mafela memorial as for irrelevant zola7 acting like a celeb but tlala feela learn from legends", the tweet read.

The tweet was not well received and Palesa Madisakwane came under heavy criticism; she later issued a statement that she had not tweeted but her PR company. Her PR manager apologised for tweeting about Zola and said she was now out of a job.

Personal Life

Palesa Madisakwane was in a heterosexual relationship with famed choreographer Somizi Mhlongo, the pair later had a child, Bahumi Madisakwane, who has gone on to become famous. Today Somizi Mhlongo is as famous for his work as he is famous for being gay; in an interview on Kaya FM he reflected on how he came to date Palesa Madisakwane.

"I've always lived my truth. When Bahumi's mother came to me and said 'I am attracted to you', I told her I'm bisexual. I didn't say I am straight, I didn't say no. I told her I have a boyfriend. And she said 'oh okay, if you are bisexual, it means you date both sexes?', and I said yes because at the time I thought I was bisexual," Somizi Mhlongo said.

Palesa Madisakwane was married to Jakes Mocuminyane and the pair share two children, Khumo and Mohumi, she revealed this in a 2016 Move! magazine interview.

Relationship with Nico Matlala

Palesa Madisakwane briefly dated Nico Matlala who is reportedly 10 years her junior and media often referred to him as Ben 10. When the relationship ended Palesa Madisakwane told the Sunday World, "This was not even a serious relationship. In my view it was just a friendship that I was just having fun in. I'm a woman. I have a choice. If I wanted a serious relationship I would look for it in a man who is very mature and has a particular class. I don't want to be negative to him because he really cared about me. We only had our issues over his exes."

While Nico Matlala was quoted saying, "I have decided to end things with her because it's high time I dated women [of] my age. There are certain things she wanted that I could not give her. That's all I can say for now".

After the media claimed that Nico Matlala had also dated Winnie Ntshaba, who is reportedly close friends with Palesa Madisakwane, he responded by saying, "If they want to take me down, I will reveal everything about their shady businesses. I have submitted everything to my lawyer as I have realised that I am dealing with bitter women... I will reveal all their dirt as they are shady as hell. I slept with Winnie at my house. Everything is recorded and I will reveal them once they try to outsmart me," Nico Matlala was quoted by the City Press.

However Palesa Madisakwane and Winnie Ntshaba denied that they were fighting over Nico Matlala.
