Jeannie D (born Jeannie De Gouveia on 13 April 1982) is a South African television personality, radio DJ and actress. She has been a presenter on Top Billing for over 10 years and during that period she has interviewed the likes of Laurence Fishburne, Ving Rhames, Kevin Spacey, Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, David Gray, Kate Bosworth,Jonathan Rhys-Davies, Jimmy Choo and Candice Swanepoel. Jeannie D also hosted Top Travel with Janez Vermeiren and Afternoon Express with Bonnie Mbuli, Bonang Matheba and Danilo Acquisto.

Early Life

Jeannie D was born Jeannie De Gouveia on 13 April 1982 in Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa. She is the daughter of Antonio De Gouveia and Linda Mendes. Jeannie D is a middle child, she has an older sister and a younger brother.

Jeannie D attended Colin Mann Primary School in Germiston, Johannesburg and the National Schools of the Arts in Braampark, Johannesburg. Upon matriculating she enrolled at Rand Afrikaans University where she studied BA Communications. While there she was crowned Miss Rand Afrikaans University.

Early Career

Jeannie D started out with a number of lead roles in several theatre productions and a variety of commercials including inflight videos and poster girl for South African Airways. While studying her BA Communications she joined campus radio at Rand Afrikaans University, Rau Radio.

Upon graduation she relocated to Cape Town where she joined Good Hope FM. Early on at Good Hope FM she served on the graveyard shift as well as reader before getting her own own show, The Jeannie D Show.

Top Billing and Other Work: 2006 - to date

In 2006 Jeannie D left Good Hope FM to pursue a career on television. In that year she portrayed a bank teller on Steven Seagal's Mercenary for Justice. Jeannie D was a warrior woman in the BBC series Cavegirl which was filmed in the Cederberg and had a small role in the M-Net drama series, Known Gods.

She joined SABC 3's long running lifestyle magazine show, Top Billing. Her work on that work on Top Billing brought her wider recognition bringing her national and international attention. In 2008 Jeannie D began hosting Top Travel alongside fellow Top Billing presenter Janez Vermeiren.
