Cry, the Beloved Country is a 1948 novel written by South African author Alan Paton. The book has been adapted for the screen twice; first in 1951 with Canada Lee, [[Sidney Poitier[[, and Charles Carson in the starring roles and again in James Earl Jones, Vusi Kunene and Richard Harris.
