Benjamin Dube (born Bonani Benjamin Dube on 23 January 1962) is a South African gospel singer, songwriter, record producer, businessman, and Pastor. He started singing at church in a family group Dube Family Singers in 1974. Benjamin used to sing a hit song called “Oh Happy Day” by an American gospel musician Edwin Hawkins in his father’s church. In 1977 the Dube Family Singers recorded their debut album Vader vergeef he then.

Early Life

Benjamin Dube was born Bonani Benjamin Dube on 23 January 1962 in Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa. He grew up in Meadowlans, Soweto in the Gauteng province of South Africa. He is the last born son of five children of the guitarist Reverend Benjamin Dube Sr † and singer Mrs Grace Dube. He attended Daliwonga Secondary School, in Dube township, Soweto. He obtained his Music Diploma in Piano at FUBA Academy in Newtown, Johannesburg.
