In 2013 she made her debut on SABC 1 soap opera, Generations, where she portrayed a character of Miss Mya, she acted alongside Menzi Ngubane, Sophie Ndaba, Mike Mvelase, Winnie Ntshaba, Thami Mngqolo and Zolisa Xaluva.

In 2015 she was cast in miniseries The Book of Negroes, as Fanta she acted alongside Cuba Gooding, Jr.,Dwain Murphy, Zethu Dlomo, Thishiwe Ziqubu, Jerry Mofokeng and Atandwa Kani. She is also an award-winning singer, her debut album Izwi Lami was released on 20 January 2011.

Early Life

Nondumiso Tembe was born on December 14, 1984 in Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Nondumiso spent her formative years in New York City, while her parents, South African soprano Linda Bukhosini and tenor Bongani Tembe, studied music at the Juilliard School. The family returned home to South Africa when Nondumiso was 10 years old, at the end of Apartheid. At 17 she returned to the Big Apple on her own, to study Musical Theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Political Science with a focus on Africa from New York’s New School University and a Masters of Fine Arts in acting from the prestigious Yale School of Drama. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Political Science with a focus on Africa from New York’s New School University and spent a summer studying Classical Theatre at the British American Dramatic Academy at the illustrious Oxford University in England. She has studied Ballet and African dance for 18 years, namely at the distinguished Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Djoniba African Dance and Drum Center in New York City.
