Nolo Phiri (born 04 February 1987) is a South African actress, producer and businesswoman, known for her portrayal Niki Bongco, a spontaneous, very street-wise girl who has a great sense of humour and is overtly flirtatious, in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City.
Life and Career
Nolo Phiri was born Lehlogonolo Phiri on 04 February 1987 in a village Musina in the Limpopo province of South Africa. She moved to Johannesburg with her mother in 1990 and studied at the National School of Arts (NSA). After matric, Nolo pursued her love for the arts at Wits, where she completed her Honours in Dramatic Arts in 2008.
She began her acting career in 2006 after landing a minor role on SABC 2's soap opera, Muvhango. In 2011 she landed a starring role on e.tv's soap opera Rythm City to portray the character of Nikki Bongco. She is also a trained producer, who has an avid interest in documentaries and has produced some for SABC. She has also starred in the British series Kingmakers (2014) as well as a local short film produced by Grey Dreaming Communications in 2015.
She has a son called Leruo (meaning "Wealth"), born April 2013.
